The 26th annual Santa Barbara International Film Festival is set to run this end of January beginning of February.   It will take place at the Arlington Theatre in the Historical downtown on State Street. News update:  Geoffrey Rush to receive Montecito Award according to Roger Durling, Festival Director.

You can purchase discounted tickets early by going to www.sbfilmfestival.org or by calling (805) 963-0023.  Maintaining close ties to the Entertainment industry in the nearby Los Angeles, this tight-knit community and mix of Artists and Business eccentrics remain dedicated to raising awareness and enriching local culture in the Cinematic Arts.

The SBIFF is also dedicated to youth education in film with its 10-10-10 youth filmmakers project. This is a chance for young students, film students, and film enthusiasts to create their own 10 minute film, with ten days to come up with the subject and 10 days to film it. The best film, or at least the one receiving the highest number of votes will be awarded in this category and receive recognition amongst an upper-class group of seasoned film veterans.

Submissions to enter the festival began taking place back in July, however there is still time to make the final drop deadline of Dec. 10th, available for a fee of 70 dollars for short films an $90 for features.  The SBIFF will host more than 70,000 visitors this year, presenting quality American and World Independent Films, Latin American and Asian sidebars, as well as documentary Cinema.
