where: The IFFR is held within a series of theaters throughout the city of Rotterdam, Netherlands.

What: the awards and recognition within the various categories of the festival:
The IFFR hosts World and international Premiers for independent films, including those with reduced film budgets derived from experimental and innovative visual art mediums. Throughout the course of this 12 day event, 100's of filmmakers and other artists screen their work to a large audience of potential future collaborators, film financiers, distributors and the general public. Around 3000 press and film industry representatives show up to give the public an idea of who next years players are going to be and who they will be working with.
