Movie Budget | Slamdance Film Festival

Dates:   January 21-27, 2011

Where:  Park City, Utah - United States

Created by filmmakers for filmmakers, Slamdance's proactive support of independent film production represents a self-governed creative showcasing of movies which allows for first time writers and directors to stake a claim within the industry's noteworthy festival platforms.

Founded in 1995 by Dan Mirvish, Jon Fitzgerald, Shane Kuhn, and Peter Baxter, the annual festival continues to take place in January alongside its more gloriously fetted Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah.

Beginners and veterans alike participate for recognition of quality cinema no matter what size of movie budget their film is comprised of. It is a well known place for low film budget cinema to boost its creators reputation amongst the big movie budget films found in the mix.

Some debuting films that have been guided into distribution by Slamdance are as follows:
2007, The King of Kong – Picturehouse and New Line Cinema
2007, Weirdsville– Magnolia Pictures
2006, The Sasquatch Dumpling Gang – Sony BMG
2005, Mad Hot Ballroom –Paramount Classics
2005, Zombie Honeymoon– Showtime Networks
2004, Bruce Haack– Seventh Art Releasing
2003, End of the Century – Magnolia Pictures

These films are just a few amongst the 50 plus films to have achieved such heights.

The Slamdance Film Festival is big on having past award winning veterans of the festival whom may have started off with lower film budgets but went on to mainstream success help out those that are up and coming. Piggy-backing off the creative reccomendations, knowledge, and reputation of these previous winners can be valuable for those future participants daring enough to complete their work and seek out such recognition.
The festival this coming new year is already closed for new submissions since October, however, you can participate as a viewer of these new-coming talents in the audience as of January 21st thru the 28th. If you have more questions regarding future participation in the event, call 323-466-1786 and speak to somebody in the office in this regard.
