In a 60 Minutes interview with Morley Safer, Meryl Streep reveals her preference in which movie productions she likes to shoot. It seems she would rather a low film budget production to perform in.
The reasoning being that she dislikes being asked to undergo take after take of the same scene. In a low film budget production she states, they can't afford to keep going on and on. Whereas on the other hand a large film budget movie production does have the resources for multiple takes and continuous reworking of the scene and performance.
Another pet peeve of Ms. Streeps is the penchant for big film budget productions which cater to teenagers. As she explains it "they try to discourage you from coming if you don't buy toys and the merchandising".
